Vicki Worden’s 2025 GBI Community Address

To our valued GBI community,

At the end of this year, I want to take time to recognize our community members for your continued collaboration during a time when it is essential to double down on our efforts.

Last December, GBI membership elected Alison Hoagland (Mackenzie) as Chair of the Board of Directors, along with three new directors. We kicked off 2025 with the release of GBI’s Journey to Net Zero™ assessment and certification program and its accompanying resources. GBI’s Green Globes® certification was recognized in federal and state policies, including Maryland’s 2025 Qualified Allocation Plan (QAP), the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Residential Care Facilities policy, and Minnesota’s Data Center Program. We also engaged in new and expanded partnerships with PACE Equity, the Global Electronics Council (GEC), and the American Institute of Architects (AIA). In addition, GBI achieved approval of Green Globes for Existing Buildings 2025 as an American National Standard and launched Green Globes for Data Center Campus Certification, developed in collaboration with Compass Datacenters.

We celebrated Colorado Mesa University’s Asteria Theatre as the 2024 Green Globes Project of the Year and released our annual Impact Report during Earth Week, honored Individual Member of the Year Jane Rohde (JSR Associates), Organizational Member of the Year Workplace Elemental Technologies (Jim Levin), and designated six new Green Globes / Guiding Principles Compliance Fellows in November. More than 200 attendees participated in GBI’s Second Annual Better Buildings: Data Center Seminar, and we welcomed over 50 new companies as GBI organizational members and sponsors.

With your support, GBI is approaching 1 billion square feet of certified commercial real estate. We have launched new programs to improve the built environment’s impact on climate and society. In 2026 and beyond, we will continue to deliver more sustainable, healthy, and resilient buildings for all through accessible resources and assessments.

Thank you for being on this journey with us.

With gratitude,

Vicki Worden
