Ray Tonjes Scholarship & Leadership Form

The Green Building Initiative (GBI) is supporting promising young adults through the founding of GBI’s Ray Tonjes Scholarship & Leadership Award. This award provides $5,000 annually toward scholarship(s), internship(s), or stipend(s) that result in inspiring and supporting future sustainability leaders within our increasingly diverse, equitable, and inclusive building industry. As the founding chair and longest-serving director of GBI, Ray Tonjes has been critical to GBI’s success and in driving our vision to create sustainable, healthy, and resilient buildings for all. Ray is a strong advocate for volunteerism and leads by example in this regard, having served as a juror for the U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon® on multiple occasions. It is with his long-standing dedication to service and commitment to sustainable housing in mind that we are honored to offer the Ray Tonjes Scholarship and Leadership Award.

I permit and authorize Green Building Initiative, Inc. (GBI) and its employees, agents, representatives, contractors, and personnel who are acting on behalf of GBI to create and/or obtain and use my photograph, my voice or quotes/excerpts of my written and/or verbally expressed words, my name, alias, or biographical information, a video and/or audio recording or other likeness of myself (hereinafter collectively referred to as “My Likeness”) for purposes related to the environmental and educational mission of GBI, including instructional and/or educational purposes, publicity, social media, marketing, and promotion of GBI and its various programs without payment, royalties, or other compensation to me.
I understand that My Likeness may be copied/reproduced and distributed by means of various media, including, but not limited to, video presentations, press releases, emails, placement on websites and/or other electronic delivery, publication, display, or promotion on any and all other media, and I further understand that My Likeness may be subject to reasonable modification or editing. I acknowledge that GBI has the right to make such modifications in accordance with this Authorization for Use of Image, Voice, or Likeness (“Authorization”). I waive any right to inspect or approve the finished product or material in which GBI may eventually use My Likeness.
I agree to indemnify, hold harmless, release, and forever discharge GBI from all claims, demands, and causes of action which I, my heirs, successors, assigns, legal representatives, or any other persons active on my behalf or on behalf of my estate have or may have by reason of this authorization. I understand that, although GBI will endeavor to use My Likeness in accordance with standards of good judgment, GBI cannot warrant or guarantee that any further dissemination of My Likeness will be subject to GBI’s supervision or control. Accordingly, I release GBI from any and all liability related to the dissemination, reproduction, distribution, and/or display of My Likeness in print or any and all other media, and any alteration, distortion, or illusionary effect of My Likeness in connection with said use.
