Credentialing
Play an important role in making buildings more environmentally sustainable, healthy, and resilient places to live and work by becoming a Green Globes Emerging Professional, Green Globes Professional, Green Globes Assessor, Guiding Principles Compliance Professional, or Fellow. GBI’s suite of credentials allow professionals to demonstrate a commitment to green building and distinguish themselves as expert users of GBI assessment programs.
Available Credentials
The Green Globes Emerging Professional (GGEP) program is designed for college students pursuing a design, engineering, construction management, and/or sustainability degree, although students in any discipline are welcome. GGEP candidates may also be architects, engineers, or sustainability professionals early in their career who do not have the 5 years of experience required to become a Green Globes Professional (GGP). The GGEP training program includes topics such as the importance of green building, an introduction to GBI and the Green Globes certification system, and sustainability concepts. This introductory credential is an excellent way for participants to become familiar with the background, topics, terminology, and processes related to Green Globes prior to becoming active in the green building community and earning the Green Globes Professional credential.
The Green Globes building rating system is unique in the marketplace. Earning the Green Globes Professional credential gives you a clear understanding of the Green Globes assessment process and certification features. This training is intended to develop experienced sustainability professionals into expert users of the Green Globes building assessment and rating system. The Green Globes Professional training covers all of the Green Globes modules and protocols, including New Construction (NC), Existing Buildings (EB), Sustainable Interiors (SI), and Core & Shell (CS).

With this course, experienced building industry professionals working with the federal government become expert users of the Green Building Initiative (GBI) Guiding Principles Compliance (GPC) sustainable building assessment system. Once a credentialed Guiding Principles Compliance Professional (GPCP), you can offer clients your services as a consultant and project manager to facilitate the GPC building assessment process. If you work within a governmental agency, a GPCP credential provides continuing education credits and adds value to your position.
Credentialed Green Globes Assessors bring their comprehensive knowledge to steer the built environment toward sustainability. Assessors are technical experts in the areas of sustainable design, construction, energy, and facility management who remain current on trends in sustainability best practices and innovations.
