Sumayyah

Sumayyah is Cyclone’s first Director of Sustainability. In this new role she will work to continuously improve and add sustainability and healthy building services to better serve our clients. She will work with our team to further develop their knowledge and skills around sustainability services. In addition to helping clients implement and be recognized for their sustainability efforts, Sumayyah will work on Cyclone’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) efforts to continuously improve the company’s impact on the environment.

Prior to her promotion she spent five years as the Manager of Technical Services. Sumayyah developed Cyclone’s sustainability services through her role as Manager including expanding our LEED Consulting to New Construction, Tenant Improvements and Existing Buildings Operation & Maintenance (EBOM). She added other green building certifications to Cyclone’s services such as Green Globes and National Green Building Standard (NGBS) certifications. In addition to sustainability programs, she built Cyclone’s WELL Building and Fitwel services and instituted Cyclone as one of the first WELL Building Performance Verification Companies. In her role she also mentored building analysts on client relationship management and communication and encourages the growth of team’s technical abilities and understanding through development of internal and external resources, including training.

Prior to joining the Cyclone team, Sumayyah was a Senior Project Manager at Affordable Community Energy, where she managed energy assessments, retro-commissioning projects, portfolio benchmarking, and measurement and verification of energy savings. Prior to that, she worked as an architect and a building energy analyst in Jordan and South Africa.

Sumayyah graduated from De Montfort University in Leicester, UK with a Master of Science in Energy and Sustainable Building Design. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering from Jordan University of Science and Technology.

Sumayyah met her husband, Johan, underwater SCUBA diving in the Red Sea in Aqaba. Their daughter, Leila, is named after a sea turtle they encountered on their first dive together! She is also an avid equestrian with passion for show jumping. In her free time, she enjoys being outdoors with her family.
