Marcus Hassen is a seasoned technology leader with more than 25 years of experience spanning management, engineering, construction, and operations with a focus on data centers and advanced technology sectors. He has led various programs for planning, designing, expanding, upgrading, and operating data centers, with an emphasis on innovation, sustainability, constructability, and operational excellence. Marcus is experienced both as an owner and consultant, a self-styled Seller / Doer that stresses the forging of stakeholder partnerships as the foundation of success for every assignment.
A recognized industry thought leader, Marcus has authored trade articles and appeared as a speaker and panelist in forums on strategy, design, energy efficiency, sustainability and operational best practices for data centers. He is an Uptime Institute Accredited Sustainability Advisor and Principal Network Member, contributes to Data Center Dynamics’ Management and Operations channel, and a 7×24 Exchange Carolinas Chapter Board Member. Marcus is Chair of ASHRAE’s 90.4 Energy Standard for Data Centers committee and a voting member on its Standards Committee. Marcus is a graduate of Virginia Tech, joining Truist in 2021 as Mission Critical Operations Group Manager. Previous to Truist, Marcus was a Sr. Operations Manager for AT&T.
